THE PUBS

De Trollenkelder

As soon as you step inside this pub, you will feel as if you've entered a whole new world, surrounded by trolls at every turn. The playful decorations and quirky ambiance set it apart from other bars in the area, it even has a troll-shaped urinal in the men's bathroom!

Dulle Griet

In all other bars it is up to you which beer you want to drink, as you have noticed there are a lot of options, but in this particular establishment, the ultimate experience is ordering the "MAX van het huis". This massive 1.2 litre beer will undoubtedly impress your friends back home and is a must-try for any beer enthusiast. It's worth noting, however, that you must finish the beer before you can retrieve your shoe, so bottoms up!

Het Waterhuis aan de Bierkant

Located next to the scenic river De Leie, this café boasts an eye-catching exterior that makes it one of the most popular bars in Ghent. It is not only popular by tourists, but it is also a popular destination for many locals, known as "Gentenaars".

Café Den Turk

Café Den Turk is the oldest pub in Ghent, and upon visiting, it becomes clear why it has survived for so long. This bar has everything that a good bar needs and more, making it a must-visit for anyone looking for an authentic pub experience.

Bier Central Gent

The beer menu at this bar is so extensive, it makes the Bible look like a pamphlet! With over 300 different beers available, you'll have quite the task ahead of you to make a choice. So stop reading and try not to panic while you make a choice.

Trappistenhuis

While it may be a bit of a journey from the other pubs, this hidden gem is truly worth the 10-minute walk from Bier central - well, depending on your condition at this point of the crawl, the walk may be longer! Once you arrive at this cosy pub, you'll be treated to some of the best "Trappisten" beers that Belgium has to offer. Sit back, relax, and savour the unique flavours of these great brews.
